˜Your SFBT tip for March 2014:
In preparation for our SF workshop for school-based problems, our tip this
month will be specific to children and youth.
When gathering new thoughts about the problem situations, start by creating
a plan (drawing a picture of this plan is often very useful).
In this plan, sketch the problem and how it has been handled in the past. Then
move into creating an outline of when the problem is less severe, or does not
exist, and think of when, where, how, what, and who (relationship questions)
that can move you and the youth from problem talk to solution talk!

We are so excited to bring back Solution-Focused Strategies for School–Based Problems.
Working with children can be rewarding work, but of course it can come with its fair
share of challenges too. Our workshop will provide you with the tools to work with
children and youth to rediscover their strengths and yours!
Specifically designed to target school-based problems, this solution–focused workshop
gives counsellors, educators, and administrators a proven, positive program that helps
students deal with their problems and gain self–esteem in the process. Rather than
dwelling on deficits of the student or the history of the problem, the solution–
focused practitioner searches for times when the problem does not occur, and utilizes
these exceptions to begin to construct potential solutions. This model is a practical,
effective approach for students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
We are thrilled to continue to offer workshops that are meaningful to our members.
