˜Your SFBT tip for January 2014:
It is the aim of the SF professional to support clients in thinking about and describing what is useful for them in moving toward positive change. To elicit these responses, ask questions like:
What did it take for you to make that change?
What helped you to make those changes?
How did you manage to successfully deal with that problem?

is proud to announce A Solution–Focused Approach With Children and Youth. This new and
exciting workshop will be offered in February 2014. In addition to this advanced
solution–focused concept, this workshop will also include a half–day presentation
from our esteemed solution-focused colleague, Dr. Jeff Chang.
Solution Talk and Dr. Jeff Chang present:
Beyond Technique: Listening for Openings and Thinking on your Feet
Over the last twenty–five years, Dr. Jeff Chang has developed a practical integration of narrative and solution–focused ideas. In this presentation, he highlights how it is important to go beyond learning interview techniques and how to, as Michael White said, " respond to responses."
Dr. Jeff Chang is Associate Professor in the Graduate Centre for Applied Psychology at Athabasca University and Director of the The Family Psychology Centre. He is frequently invited to teach workshops, and has presented his work in North America, Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. He is a well–regarded clinical supervisor, and has supervised over twenty–five Provisional Registered Psychologists.
Audience: Youth care, mental health, social work, childrens' services, crisis
intervention, group homes, residential treatment, probation officers, program administrators,
domestic violence workers, nursing, psychology, group wilderness programs, instructors,
criminal justice programs, teachers, and school principals.
