˜Your SFBT tip for April 2014:
One of our favourite quotes from Insoo Kim–Berg describes the very nature of the existence of solutions for everyone. It is, "By stating there is a problem suggests there is a solution – linguistically." In our practice we need to remember to gently "tap" our clients on the shoulder, to point out these alternative paths to their problems, that they are simply overlooking. Enjoy your continued solution-focused practice!

Our workshops offer a "pure" Solution-Focused learning opportunity, but we are proud to work within a model that is flexible and acknowledges other modalities to meet the individual needs of our clients.
As active members of the Alberta Play Therapy Association (APTA), we encourage you to look at their website and consider joining us as members. Remember, you don't need to be a certified play therapist to join, just have a passion to learn how to work with children effectively!

Narrative-Collaborative Therapy with Dr. Jeff Chang
Join Dr. Jeff Chang, and benefit from his 25 years' experience of immersion in both the narrative and solution–focused approaches. There will be plenty of opportunity for networking and socializing. No prerequisites are required.
This 4–day skill–based intensive workshop will immerse you in a narrative–collaborative approach to counselling, therapy, and community practice. Dr Jeff Chang will assist participants to understand the thinking supporting a narrative–collaborative approach, and lead you through learning specific skills for practice. Through live demonstration and video illustration by Jeff and other leaders in narrative therapy, participants will observe and practice interview skills and other narrative practices, including:
  • externalizing the problem
  • deconstructive listening and questioning
  • locating and expanding unique outcomes
